Namaste

Indians greet each other with namastey.

The two palms are placed together in front of the
chest and the head bows whilst saying the word namastey.

This greeting is for all -
peope younger to us, of our own age, those older than friends, even strangers and us.
There are five forms of formal traditional greeting enjoined in the shaastras of which
namaskaram is one.

This is understood as prostration but it actually refers to paying homage as we do today when we greet each other with a namastey.

Namastey could be just a casual or formal greeting, a cultural convention or an act of worship.
However there is much more to it than meets the eye.

In Sanskrit namah + tey = Namastey
It means - I bow to you - my greetings, salutations or prostration to you.
Nama can also be literally interpreted as "na ma" (not mine).

It has a spiritual significance of
negating or reducing one’s ego in the presence of another.
The real meeting between people is the meeting of their minds.

When we greet another, we do so with namastey,
which means, "may our minds meet," indicated by the folded palms placed before the chest.
The bowing down of the head is a gracious form of
extending friendship in love and humility.

The spiritual meaning is even deeper.
The life force, the divinity, the Self or the Lord in me
is the same in all.
Recognizing this oneness with the meeting of the
palms, we salute with head bowed- the Divinity in the person we meet.
That is why sometimes, we close our eyes
as we do namastey to a revered person or the Lord – as if to look within.

The gesture is often accompanied by words like
"Ram Ram,”
"Jai Gurudev!"
"Jai Shri Krishna",
"Namo Narayana",
"Jai Siya Ram",
"Om Shanti" etc - indicating the recognition of this divinity.

We know this significance, our greeting does not remain just a superficial gesture/ word but
paves the way for a deeper communion with another in an atmosphere of love and respect.

My Guru Story

It was 2008, in June there was a Yes!+ advance course with dinesh dada at the Bangalore ashram. What made it more interesting was that Guruji was there at the ashram. Most of my friends were going to do the Yes!+ TTC that followed the advance course and chances were that all of us might not do the advance course together again. They had insisted me long and somehow made me feel that I should do the advance course.

The situations were such that my semester 6 exams gets over by 21st and the advance course begins on 23rd and so, I had to register by 22nd. Usually, in engineering colleges, we have companies visiting for campus placements immediately after semester 6 exams are over, mostly the next day. As a result, I was tensed and didn’t know what to do. I had to choose between my job and a package which contains my first advance course, dinesh dada, Guruji, all my friends. I was confused and damn stressed for a whole week. I could observe that I was getting weak because of all that stress and worries. I constantly prayed to Guruji. I asked him to tell me which one to choose. On a very subtle level, I was hoping if I could have the best of both.

Among all this, I had a thought to just call up my placement officer and ask him when the companies are coming. Well, he said they are not coming this week! So I had a whole week off. WOW! Never expected that to happen. So, I quickly caught the first flight to Bangalore and went to the ashram and did my first ever advance course.

That was the first time I felt the presence of the Divine. After that, all my life was a Guru story to tell.

Loads of Love,

Ravi

My Ashram Trip

Well, I had taken a 1 year break from Seva and other Art of Living activities only to concentrate on my final year in computer engineering. All that while and during the exams, especially, I had promised myself a relaxing and contended tour to the Bangalore Ashram. And so it happened.

Unlike my previous two visits, I have no one coming with me in the ashram and no one that I know is in the ashram. So, I was very much lonely throughout my tour. I was a little concerned, but I had this one knowledge well established in me that “Guruji is watching me and I am being taken care of”. I have nothing to worry because I have the divine accompanying me.

Well, as far as my travelling goes, it was quite optimized and cheap too. I didn’t spend much and travelled by bus which made it cheap and it took less time to reach the ashram than what I had expected. And similar while returning and nothing great happened, so I need not mention them.

And now, for my days in the ashram. I was in the ashram for 5 days. And those 5 days were the most relaxing and soothing days that I could ever had. While entering the ashrams, I made a few sankalpas like before leaving the ashram, I must have reduced some weight, I must get the best of all the courses, I must reduce my belly etc… (There are some that I cannot mention here)

I was a complete stranger though; I was not afraid because I knew that I am at home right now. I took it as my chance to make as many new friends as I can. Usually, when you are with your friend, you end up making no friends or just making friend of friends. But this time, it was different.

In my first day, I did my eternity process. It was completely AWESOME and there was nothing like it. Then, in the next 3 days, I did my Blessing Course. 165 people had come to do the course. Participants included a Pakistani, 2 Omanis, a Russian, over 60 south-Indians from Coimbatore, Hyderabad and Chennai and few from Delhi, UP, Bihar and Haryana. Guess what I was the only one representing Mumbai. And me and another friend chetan phatak from Nasik representing Maharashtra.

It is difficult and could be nerve-breaking to get into an already established group of friends and making friends with them. It took me 2 days, but I did make an impact. By the end of the course, I was not only popular among all, but I also made some new friends. Not just a few, many of them. Long lasting friends. Among them were Vijayshankar, Balagopal, Ram Unnamalai (I called her Annamalai), Sharada, Jyothi, Shreya, Vaibhav, Gurucharan, Divya, Chetan, Mohammad, Shreecharan Jha. Well, this is all the names that I can remember for now, but there were much more than these. There was also a foreigner Vaida who had come for her TTC. I had made lots of friends.

The course was Awesome and I had left the ashram with total contentment and gratitude for my guru. All my sankalpas were fulfilled as well. And I was blessed to bless others.

Loads of Love,

Ravi.

PS: the English scholars must invent new words, because I am falling short of words while describing my experiences. Everything here is AWESOME. The courses are awesome, I am awesome, my feelings are awesome, the ashram is awesome, the food is awesome, the climate and atmosphere there is awesome and everything is just awesome.

Eternity Process

The eternity process is one of The Most Amazing courses that I have ever done. It’s simply an AWESOME-BLOSSOM course.

Here is what it is all about:

There are memories and some impressions that get stored in the mind. But there are some really close emotions or impressions that get stored in our soul. These could be good impressions or bad ones. Like in Mumbai, if you were involved in the terrorist attacks or bomb-blasts or have closely seen them, such bad impressions get registered in your soul, that’s what make them unforgettable and people get traumatized.

You know, that’s why they say one must not commit suicide. One commits suicide only when he is deeply hurt and when he dies, his body and brain gets destroyed, but his emotions and the reason for committing suicide still stays with the soul. Similar is the case with immediate or unexpected accidents or sudden deaths.

Ever wondered why souls roam around or ghosts exists? This is the reason. Soul stay on Earth because it is not free from these worldly emotions. Only when a soul gets free from these impressions can it go to heaven or hell.

What Eternity process does is, it removes all such impressions, bad as well as good, of the soul from this lifetime and from all your previous lifetimes.

This is seriously an amazing course that The Art of Living has come up with. The outcome or the aftermath of this course is unbelievably true. You not only get to know about your previous lifetimes and what you were, these impressions get erased and you feel completely hollow and empty and stress-free and liberated and deeply relaxed and meditated.

You then have a new life, a new enthusiasm and a new joy, a stress-free one.

This course is done by The Art of Living Foundation which charges INR 1500/- and it takes place in an empty room with just the teacher and that one student. Duration varies from 1hr30min to 2hours.

The requirement for the course is that you must have done at least:

1. One Yes! + Or Part I or Yes! Course

2. One Advance Course

3. One Sahaj Samadhi Meditation

4. 6 months of everyday continuous sudarshan kriya.

I took this course and found it amazing. Till date I am very much in the present moment.

Dude! Everyone must try this out.

Loads of Love,

Ravi

Ask Sri Sri

Q: I am working in an office. The atmosphere is always irritating me lot. Because of my husband's wish I joined here. I don't want more salary; still I am not at all happy. How can I get satisfaction?

SRI SRI: There is nothing called ''Job Satisfaction’’! It is the biggest illusion that you will get satisfaction in your job. I tell you there is no such a thing as job satisfaction. This word should be eliminated from the dictionary! Satisfaction can only come to you by going deep within you, by praying, by singing and celebrating. Job you do to maintain your family, your circumstances for financial security and all these reasons. For this you do your job. Art, music, celebration, praying, all this you do for your satisfaction.

Q: Have you ever felt insecure about your looks? How does one overcome that? How do I feel better about myself?

Sri Sri : Are you aware about the story about Ashtavakra - the powerful saint who was deformed in 8 places. When he entered the court of King Janaka all the King's men laughed at him. Ashtavakra said 'I thought King Janaka has surrounded himself with wise men but they are all fools!" When someone is in love with only your looks, what will happen in a few years when the body changes? They are not in love with you they are in love with your looks. They should see the soul connection, honour you for what you are, your qualities...

Q: We always stay in the present and worry about the future. How can we get rid of this worry and is it wrong to worry about the future?

SRI SRI: It is alright to plan for the future, but wrong to worry about it. Take a sankalpa about what you want in the future. Then draw up a plan accordingly. Worrying about something drains you of energy and strength. You don’t gain anything. We think that we are responsible for our past; we should have done this, we should have done that. We keep regretting our past: will we gain anything thereby? Worrying about the future will not help either. The sensible way of looking at it is that the past was destined to be so and the future will be a result of my will. We usually do the opposite: that is wrong. We usually think the past was freewill, the future is destiny and we live in fear and misery in the present. If you reverse it, you will be happy.

"Sadhana satsang and the company of GURU can bring such a lasting impression, which would erase all the unwanted impressions".
